Halloween 2007

Another Halloween done... and again we had lots of fun. This was the first year that we didn't trick or treat together. Jax went around with friends and another dad. Maya went with me and another mom and 3 other kids. John stayed home and handed out candy with Wyatt and Annie (who barked at everyone who dare enter our property). I was sad that Jax didn't go around with me, but I did get a "thank you for letting me go with my friends" at the end of the night. I made the kids pose for some shots before trick or treating and I think I was able to get some really fun shots. Maya is the dramatic one, Jax is more serious but fun in his own way and Wyatt is just along for the ride! I didn't plan on them coordinating but they do... Paul Stanley, Edward Scissorhands and a Skunk never looked so good together!Halloween_2007_038Halloween_2007_037Halloween_2007_011Halloween_2007_036 Halloween_2007_002 Halloween_2007_032 Halloween_2007_054 Halloween_2007_046

Halloween Prep Central

Halloween is one of my favourite times during the year. It never used to be, but since I've had kids it's so much fun to watch them plan and get thoroughly excited about trick or treating and getting dressed in their most creative costumes. Tonight I did the last costume stitches, laid everything out for after school dress up, planned our before trick or treating dinner and packed up treats and surprises for Maya's class. But I left the pumpkin carving for Dad. As soon as he entered the door from work, he was on the job. The kids drew their own designs and were ready for Dad to carve and gut the pumpkins. Only Maya helped dig out all the goop... Jax couldn't stomach the smell. So Maya and Dad had lots of fun faking puking. Both pumkins turned out great. The kids and Dad had fun and Wyatt and I had a great time watching all the fun.Halloween_prep_033 Halloween_prep_035Halloween_prep_002 Halloween_prep_044  Halloween_prep_034 Halloween_prep_022

A Scissor Moment

Flowers_3 Ever have one of THOSE weeks that you just want a change... not a huge change but a little change? I have been feeling really dull lately. My allergies are still not gone, I'm still itchy. My face is blotchey and my skin is so dry (from the allergies). My laundry pile continues to grow (I'm trying to save $ and do my laundry at night instead of during the day when the rates are much higher) and no matter how much dusting I do with the swiffer, my floors are constantly dustly and dog-hairy.

So as my idea of a good idea for change... I brought out the scissors and decided it was a good day for bangs. (I told you a just wanted a small change) BANGS! I haven't had bangs for awhile, but since I have all this new baby hairs growing and sticking out, I thought bangs would be fine. I was WRONG. I realized why I originally got ride of them in the first place, a COWLICK right in the middle of my forehead! So now I have bangs. I have bangs being held back by one of Maya's hair clips. I guess I have to get used to them. It's going to be awhile until they grow into the rest of my hair. I'm going to go out today and by more adult appropriate hair clips.

6 months less a day

It's happened, Wyatt is going to be 6 months old tomorrow. We just got home from his doctor's appointment and he is doing "lovely" as the doctor says. He is 15.9lbs - his head circumference is 41cm and he is in the 25th percentile (which means he is normal but smallish). Jax was always in the 90th percentile until he hit 1 year old.

Here is what he is up to... he is a squirmer! He can't be left on a bed without pillows and people all around him. He never stays still... diaper changes are lots of fun! He sits up and loves to move around. All of a sudden I have found beads missing off the bottom of my curtains (Mama Chicque - hide your tassels now!). During the day, he is now confined to the playpen when I need to do something. He loves paper and we can't look at a flyers anymore without a little hand grabbing the corner. He has 4 teeth and love to grind them in the most annoying way. He likes to talk at the times when you want to hear the important things the guy on the TV is talking about. Guess, he likes to break up the silence. He has an ear from music and is loving Blue Rodeo, Cold Play and the Killers. He does get his dose of Highschool Musical too from his sister. He eats baby food, baby cereal and wishes that he could eat adult food. He loves his brother and sister and they love him. Our house is definitely "funner" with Wyatt Boy!Week_2_072_2 Week_2_073 Week_2_076 Week_2_077_2

On the Move

Wyatt is moving. He is so close to crawling, I'm starting to cover up all the wall sockets. He moves towards anything that he can stick in his mouth to aleviate the teething pain. We have enen caught him doing some yoga moves! I put down a huge comforter will his toys but most to the time he finds his way to the hardwood floor trying to pick away the wood grain or this morning I found him under the coffee table trying to hide from all the before school commotion.Week_2_038 Week_2_051 Week_2_052 Week_2_042

She Cracks Me Up!

My Girl is definitely an original. I started the halloween costumes yesterday and Maya's was first. She tried on the leotard (I still have to put on the stars), my high boots and a black cape (Paul Stanley doesn't wear one, but it could snow when it's finally time to Trick or Treat) and out came the rocker chick in her. She ran out the door to show our neighbours and to strike a pose. Just imagine the full makeup and the wig and the guitar and of course the cod piece ;-) to complete the outfit. I'm sure that my girl will be channelling all things KISS by the end of the month... she is even singing KISS tunes while playing around the house. Can you sing along to "I was made for lovin you baby....you were made for lovin me"Week_2_047 Week_2_049

1 year anniversary

I've been blogging for a whole year. Honestly, that's more time than I've spent doing most hobbies that I decide to take on. Here are the things that I've done in the last year and have not finished....

Jax's Memory Quilt... all the pieces are in place, but I need to do all the finishing

Maya's Scrapbook... It's up to age 2. The plan was to finish up to going to school and move on the Jax's scrapbook, and then stay up to date on Wyatt's

Watercolours ... honestly, I just don't find the time anymore and Blogging is so quick and easy and instant gratification

Gardening... I'm glad that my plants that I planted years ago are finally filling in all the dead spots and I was suprised to see that some of my plants self seeded (total shocker) so I did have a little colour in my weed infested garden

Furniture Painting... This just fizzled hard, but I do have a polka dot table to show for it. But the desk, shelves, set of drawers are still in need of a blast of colour

Hey, I have an excuse and he is much cuter and much more fun than anything else. He is on the verge of crawling! He squawks like a bird! Loves to bite with his 4 teeth! and if you squeeze his butt cheeks together, his bottom has a stunning resemblance to a brain! (sorry no pictures of his little cute bottom)Week_2_012_2 Week_2_010

Another Tooth Fairy Visit

Maya woke up this morning with a twoonie under her pillow. She finally lost tooth number 2 last night eating an orange... yes, an orange! She wrote a little note to the tooth fairy but the tooth fairy was a little preoccuppied and left it under her pillow and took the box (that wasn't supposed to be taken) that Maya put the tooth in for safety. Oops, guess it was just a late night for the Tooth Fairy.

Super Snuggly and More Teeth

My little Wyatt doesn't want to be  put down. His mouth hurts. There are 2 more teeth coming through. The top ones this time... and they are sharp.Thankgiving_2007_043

Baby's New Ride

Remember the Zapp Quinny Stroller I wanted? Well, today we picked it up and Wyatt had his first ride... I'm hoping to take him on a big long ride tomorrow. And I'll take lots of pictures of a hopefully happy baby boy in his new pimped up ride!

Update: Here is the first ride with the stroller... looks like it works like a charm. Wyatt doesn't like to lie down in the stroller. He likes to look around. He doesn't like to wear socks (we lost another pair on this walk). And yes, he likes to fall a sleep sitting up.Quinny_rider_2 Quinny_rider_4

My Photo

I like to PAINT

  • Decorating_044
I like to pick up a brush, dab it in paint and paint on anything in site from a clean canvas, an old canvas, watercolour paper, scrap wood, walls, closet doors, clothing, etc. Think I've passed the trait down to my kids.

I like to MAKE THINGS

  • July_072
Sometimes I find things that I love when I am out shopping and other times I have a picture in my head and that's all I'm going to settle for. Most of the time I can make it and it turns out exactly what I picture in my head. It's definitely a trait that I inherited from my parents and I think I've passed it down to my kids

I like to throw CHILDREN's PARTIES

  • Dsc02712
I love birthday parties. I love to see the kids play and have fun with their friends. Our house ends up being a big mess before, during and after the event but the kids have a great time and it's all worth it.

I like to MAKE CARDS & INVITATIONS

  • Fishee_005
Inspired by my own children's imaginations, I came up with a way to match their colourful ideas and my love of birthday parties. Creating personalized invitations and birthday themes, we always end up with some great memories and happy children!

I love Family

  • Ugliest_kid_ever1
Found these old family pictures and it just brings back memories... most of the time my sister and I had a ball... sometimes we fought like crazy... but we did have fun. Take a peek and you will see.

Can't believe they said that....

  • Maya - Age 6 (Almost 7)
Mom... guess what the boys said to me today. They said that "I was hot, they really did!"
  • Maya - Age 6 (Almost 7)
Jackson, that's not symmetrical! (when folding up the blankets)
  • Maya - Age 6
It's not a wig! (when Wyatt pulled her hair for the 35th time in a span of 10 minutes)
  • Maya - Age 6
Teached - taught, same thing! - When Jackson tried to correct her grammar.
  • Maya - Age 6
"He jawed me" - When Daddy taught her how to take a fish off the hook.
  • Maya - Age 6
I slept with Wade.... on the bus! (After a field trip to the zoo. She finally talked her boyfriend into letting her sit with him on the bus and they both fell asleep on the hour and half bus trip home)
  • Jax - Age 3
I am not liking this. (after we brought Maya home from the hospital and as he stomped his way up the stairs)
  • Maya - Age 5.95
Mommy, baby boys are better than girls right? (After she fell in love with Wyatt as much as we did)
  • Jax - Age 9
    What's deja boo?
  • Maya - February 2007 on the way to Florida
But I won't survive! (when I told her that she could only have 3 cheese crackers cause she had just gotten finished her little bout of car sickness and needed a little time for the Gravol to kick in)
  • Maya - Age 5
My mom says to stay away from the big boys cause they have big sticks... (I was referring to hockey sticks out on the rink)
  • Jax - Age 4
Mommy and Daddy... can you do love skating? (Love Skating = Pairs Figure Skating)
  • Maya - Age 4
I got 2 bums, a little one and a big one...
  • Jax - Age 5
Mom, I know what a vajayda is... (I later had to explain to him that it is pronounced vagina)
  • Jax - Age 8
Mom, when do we learn about Global Warning?
  • Maya - Age 5
    Jackson hit me back....
